« Andrenes or sand bees are a family of solitary bees with a short tongue.
Females are easily distinguished from most other small bees by a hairy patch between their eyes and the base of their antennae, the fovea.
After mating, the females look for nesting sites (« burrows »), where they build small cells containing a ball of pollen mixed with nectar, on which an egg is laid, before each cell is sealed.
As the seasons go by, we observe different species in our vineyards ».
